Education
I received my Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in Writing from William Paterson University. While attending there, I was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta—The International English Honor Society. I maintained a 3.45 G.P.A. in my major as well as received numerous awards and recognition for my critical essays and creative writings. I have won three poetry contests, became the summer 2006 winner for the moneymatters101.com scholarship on my critical essay “The Breakdown in the Education system in the United States, and how do you think it can be fixed?,” written and directed three short films of which I placed 3rd in the WPU student film festival for one of them. I also received the 2009 Unsung Hero award for my dedication and unrecognized efforts and the 2009 Continued Excellence award for receiving a GPA higher than 3.0.
Experience
I have been tutoring for 18 years starting with preparing my mother for her GED. This became the start of my tutoring career. Since then, I have effectively tutored adults in essay writing and have successfully tutored students from grade levels K-12. I have also tutored special education students in reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. What I find to be the most rewarding part of tutoring has been watching students improve in these subjects when they did not have the confidence that they could. I have learned throughout my career that the key tools students need to improve in their subject areas are the caring patience of an instructor and the belief from the students that one can achieve success. It is that simple! My teaching method is not to give students the answer, but to assist them in discovering the answer for themselves. It is the way one truly learns and fosters the skills needed to feel confident--embedded with the pivotal tools to conquer new challenges. My belief is that the know-how to write is vital because we are judged daily on our oral and written skills; thus, I feel it is an important skill to keep keen.

Hobbies
What I love to do in my spare time is write. I work on writing poetry and screenplays. My interest is publish some of my work and to become a sucessful screenwriter and movie director.
